CAMPING

Can I DIY camp at the showground

Yes, DIY camping is available at the showground for a flat rate of $30 per person (for up to 3 nights - check in Thursday, Check out Sunday).  You will need to purchase the ADD ON - CAMPING at Showground when purchasing your Rally Pass or Day Pass ticket for the event.  Please note: Camping will only be permitted for Rally Pass Holders and Exhibitors.

What amenities are included at the Showground?

Toilets and hot showers are available for those people staying at the Showground.

There will also be a security presence.

Can we bring a campervan or caravan?

Yes, campervans, caravans, tents are all welcomed at the Showground.

Can I park next to my tent?

Yes, you may park alongside your tent. However, there are strictly no vehicle/bike movements allowed in the camping area between sunset and sunrise. If you are planning on using your vehicle/bike during the evening then you will need to park outside the showground.

Can we camp next to our friends?

If you want to camp with friends, please try and arrive together or as closely together as possible. We cannot reserve camping spaces for you.

Are campfires allowed at the Showground?

Yes, campfires are permitted if conditions are favourable.  Wood has been kindly supplied by Jim Gerke.  Some firepits will be placed in locations in the camping ground for you to utilise.  Please remember to be mindful and respectful of other campers. Remember: Fire embers and tents don't mix!   

Is there any undercover areas for camping at showground?

Yes,  there are around 60 undercover individual horse stalls that can be accessed.

Are there powered sites?

We do not have specific powered sites. However, there is power in the campgrounds on a first in, first served basis.  

Where is the camping located?

Camping is located in designated areas at Walcha showground – Derby Street, Walcha.

Are there any rules associated with the campground?

There are a few rules to ensure the safety for all at the Campground.  These include:-

  • No vehicle/bike movements are allowed in the camping area between sunset and sunrise.
  • Only campers with Walcha Motorcycle Rally camping wristbands are allowed in the campground.
  • Noise should be kept to a minimum after 10pm.
  • No glass permitted in the showground or camping area.

What security is there on-site at the Showground?

Security guards will be on-site patrolling the area from Thursday 14 November to 6am Sunday 17 November.  The showground gate will be manned for the rally. 

Can I bring alcohol to the campground?

Yes, you may bring alcohol to your campsite.  Glass bottles are not permitted.  There is a daily limit of 10 cans beer / lager / cider / pre-mixed drinks OR 1 cask of wine per person. You are not allowed to take alcohol from your campsite to the Rally event  as this is a fully licensed event.  

Can I bring my own generator?

Small quiet generators are permitted but please be respectful of other campers with regards to noise. Generators must be turned off at night when people are sleeping.

EXHIBITORS / FOOD STALLS

Can we apply to have an Exhibition or Food stall site at the showground?

Yes, we welcome exhibitors and food stalls to apply for a site at the showground. 

The event program includes events and activities at the showground on both Friday and Saturday.

Does the Walcha Motorcycle Rally support a charity or charities?

Yes, WMR is proud to support the Westpac Rescue Helicopter Service and BackTrack Youth Works

To make a donation please visit their websites or take up the opportunity to support these great charities at the Rally.

Do I need a ticket or wristband to enter the showground - Rally event hub?

YES.  Motorcyclists will need to purchase a Rally Pass or Day Pass. 

These Passes include access to:-
-PRE-BOOKED organised rides
-onsite bike parking
-onsite security
-ADD ON option to onsite camping

Give you eligibility to enter: -
show & shine     |     tyre throwing comp
street procession    |    burnout comp
enduro-x course    |     postie bike events
best beard/mullet comp

With proof of this purchase, you will receive a wristband on arrival to the Showground.
Your wristband must be worn at all times. 
No wristband = no entry.

Tell me about the FREE TOWN LOOP BUS.

If you have purchased a Rally Pass or Day Pass, you have access to the free continuous town loop shuttle bus.  The bus will pick up and drop off at the showground, Walcha CBD, pubs, accommodation and other Walcha venues during the event.  The shuttle bus will run Thursday (6:00pm - 10:00pm), Friday & Saturday (9am - 10:00pm).

Is there a taxi service in Walcha?

What time will the bar be operating at the Showground?

Thursday
4pm - 10pm

Friday & Saturday
12noon - 10:30pm

Can I bring alcohol into the Event-Hub (showground)?

No, The Walcha Motorcycle Rally is a licensed event, please don’t bring your own alcohol to the event.   Alcohol at the event must be consumed within the bar area.

Is there an ATM or Tap & Go Facilities at the Showground?

There is no ATM at the showground.  ATM facilities are available in town at; Commonwealth Bank, Regional Australia Bank, Transwest Fuels & the Supermarkets in Walcha. 

Tap & Go payment will be available at the showground main gate Registration and at the showground Bar.

What food is available at the Showground?

A variety of food options will be available at the showground inc:- Burger Bulls, Spanish Fiesta, PJ Thai, Pizza on Wheels, Corn on the Cob, Thunderbolts Cafe, Floss Bomb, Slushies, Ribs and more.  Walcha town has a great range of cafes and pubs also.

What exhibitors are attending this year?

A variety of exhibitors will be in attendance at the Showground on Friday & Saturday. See Exhibitor tab on this website for full list.

What temperatures does Walcha experience during Spring?

Spring temperatures range from a minimum of 7°C (overnight) to a maximum of 22°C (daytime).  However New England High Country weather can be unpredictable.  Please come well prepared with plenty of warm clothing (jumper, wind jacket) for evenings.

How far is the showground from Walcha town centre?

750m - so walking distance to town from showground.  Alternatively,  jump on the FREE Loop shuttle bus (for ticketholders only).

Can I get a media pass?

What options do I have for the organised rides?

Organised Rides include a number of options for you to choose from on Fri & Sat, depending on your skills, bike and preference.   These must be pre-booked when purchasing your Rally Pass or Day Pass.

 

I would like to bring my children/child, do I have to buy a ticket for them?

Children aged 16 years and under are admitted free in the company of a supervising, paying adult. 

The accompanying adult is responsible for the minor’s behaviour and safety, ensuring they are supervised at all times.

Can I bring my pet?

We would prefer pet's to be left at home.  However, service dogs are an exception. 

Is the showground wheelchair friendly?

Yes, the showground is wheelchair friendly.

Is there a non-motorcyclist spectator day ticket available?

Any non-motorcycle riders who are still looking for a day trip to Walcha – there are lots of free activities and exhibits in downtown Walcha. 

If you would like a taste of the Rally enquire at the main gate on Spectator Only Day entry (not able to participate in events).

What free stuff is happening in Walcha township?

Motorcycle street procession at 11am Saturday, farmers market, vintage car display. 

Motorcycle displays and motorcycle themed competitions in and outside Fitzroy and Derby Street businesses.  Live music and sports bike display at Walcha Royal Cafe.
